Other Useful Laws

Other Texas laws that may be useful in prosecuting environmental criminal cases include those in the following chart. Peace officers seeking to work effectively in this area should continue to read other provisions of the Health & Safety law as well as other statutes. We would appreciate being notified if you have discovered a good use for a law other than the four primary ones commonly used, the Texas Outdoor Burning rule, and these listed here.

Note that criminal violations of many of the following, including the Health & Safety Code, may also expose the violator to locally imposed civil penalties under Sections 7.101 through 7.110 of the Texas Water Code, each day being a separate civil violation.
